How are these rx7s?

i checked kbb and they should be about 10,000, not 14000. so if im gonna spend 10 grand might as well get a rx7 over a miata, then again my mom may not like it since its 94

http://www.amileofcars.com/listings/l1409.html

http://www.amileofcars.com/listings/l3116.html

ones 14000, with no amount of milage, the other has 62k with no price

im gonna check em out tomorow

These engines usually crap out at about 60k + so you're prolly gonna be spending alot more then u expect.

Re: How are these rx7s?

The engine isn’t garneted to be bad by any set mileage but there is a chance of it. Really it’s all in how well the car was maintained and cared for. How ever I will agree with Revv that you will probably have to do some basic maintenance and if there are some small problems your gonna need to need to make sure there not something that could cause problems if it had been ignored by the previous owner. all and all owning a FD as your primary car can get pricy.

Re: How are these rx7s?

A primary driven fd can cost more then most other cars to drive due to the maintaince required for it is proper upkeep.
If the previous owner didn't take care of the car like it was suppose to be taken care of then you MAY run into some problems but generally speaking it's a crap shoot.

Have an experianced rotary tech do a compresion test on the engine and give the car a look over before making a decision.

Edit: I just looked at the first car and I don't think I would trust anything they say with the "additional information" of "The Fast & Furious." they just sound like someone who picked the car up from a trade and are trying to pawn it off on some unsuspecting youth.

Re: How are these rx7s?

Well to be honest the proper upkeep of a 11+ year old rotary rocket that was lightyears ahead of its competition is large.
I do this for a living (or did untill it was burnt to the grond :P) and on average you are looking to spend 8-13k a year on matinence on these cars.
YOU CAN NOT LET THINGS SLIDE.
Simple oil leaks can mean the need for a new motor. Religions oil changes, and miticulus care must be taken to keep the car running PERFECT. If you turn key and there is any sign of a problem, shut it off and take anothere car.

If you want a more robust rotary then i sugest a FC. Its like a bodybuilder of the rotary world. The FD is like the track and feild star of the kids. :P

In short, if your not up to keeping a closer eye over your car than you do your child, get the miata.

Re: How are these rx7s?

You can pretty well throw the kelly blue book out the window for these cars.

So true.

You would hate to see how a lot of used car dealerships get overpriced pieces of junk cars. I've been to more then my fair share of dealer only auctions seeing cars that are priced around $5,000 bought for less then $1,500 and a lot of those cars were rentals...
