Why Was The 95 Blazer Engine Junked In 96??

I've looking for an answer to why the 95 engine was junked in 96?

Thanks!

Basiclly, to pass emissions laws. CSFI can better control air to fuel mixture more percisely than can the CPI engine, hence less combustion byproducts(emissions).

What do you mean by " ..engine was junked."
1995 was a transition year. The 1995 to 1997 short-block was upgraded with the crank, crank sensor&timing cover, distributor, lighter pistons, piston rings higher on piston, additional knock sensor, OBD2. It kept the intake, CPI and heads from '94. 1995 was also first year for R134AC system in the Blazer.

the question he's asking is why did gm discontinue the CPI system after the 95 model year. 1 for better emissions and probably because of the CPI injector and associated components failing.

Exclamation Re: Why Was The 95 Blazer Engine Junked In 96??

Thanks for the explanation(s) on why the 95 engine was discontinued in 96.. I would also like to say I apologize for using the work "Junked" I didn't mean for it to sound like the 95 engine is junk.. I just worded my title wrong that's all.

Btw: So the engine only went into 96-97 and was discontinued in 98?

What I meant was the short-block is somewhat unique for late95 to 97 meaning the block casting, crank and pistons are different than pre 95. The 4.3 is always evolving through incremental changes, so I wouldn't say any version of it is ever discontinued. The 98+engine (long block) is much the same as the 96-97.
See this link for the best article I've found about building 4.3's
