Does anyone know what the most horsepower that you can get out of a d15b7 is?

I think you misunderstood him, he didn't mean how much hp it has stock, he ment what it's capable of.

But it depends on what you do with it. If you built it up and turbocharged it, it could make well over 400whp. Just depends on how much $ you're willing to spend and how far you're willing to go with it.

about how much money are you talking about? and what kind if mods.I know that the heads and block have to be done over size piston cam and crank shaft.

if your going to go through all that, and spend all that money, might as well start with a b18b ls motor... then do all that... 3grand for a turbo, 300$ for a cam, headwork 1grand (valves, retainers, springs, port&polish, labor) sleeved block??? turbo pistons 500, rods 500, crank??? trtanny to hold all that power, priceless.... lol... TOTAL guesses, i didnt look EVERY item up, but im close on most of them..
d15-100hp/98tq stock(if ur lucky)
b18b- 142hp/127tq stock<--- way better base motor, and better for holding boost on stock internals

Way too general of a question. Figure out how much power you're looking for, and be realistic. Is this going to be a daily driver, street/track, or strictly track car. Do you know anyone who can tune your car once the work is done (because you will need someone who knows what they're doing)? Figure out a realistic amount of $ you're willing to spend, again be realistic. For some people; it's nice to think that spending $15k-20k on a car is within their range, but for most people it's not realistic at all. To do it right, it will probably end up costing at LEAST $7k-8k to build the engine, a turbo kit, and engine management/tuning. And the only way to get a lot of power is turbo (to answer your "what kind of mods question). Those are all things you need to think about before asking what you should do. I also agree that the d15b7 is a horrible base engine to work off of. The more hp the engine has stock, the better it is to work off of. However, the d16z6 or d16y8 are good engines to build off of. The extra 19hp may not seem like much, but the quality of the engine is a whole lot better. A turbo z6 or y8 can be a very powerful and economical choice (economical in the sense that it is fairly inexpensive in regards to price of the engine and parts).

dont waste your money on this engine. for the amount of hp ull get out of it u could just get a z6 swap and still be faster.

has everyone forgotten about the mini-me swap? do a d16 head conversion and new pistons, valve job, etc. Then turbo. You can get this done for under 8,000 if u pick you shop around.

turbo kit - 2,300.00
d16 head - 300.00
valve job- head job - 800.00
internals - 1,000.00


prices may vary, it has been a few years since i've done this

have fun finding internals for a d15b7. just get a b18a/b or a d16 and play with that.
