Hey everyone - love the forum!!
I have a problem with my 1992 Buick LeSabre Limited. The headlights don't turn on. The headlight button on the door works and the high beams still work when I pull the turn signal lever back, so I'm thinking there is something loose within the turn signal lever. Has anyone ever tried to replace the turn signal lever? How hard is it? Do you have to pull the whole steering wheel off the dash to get the clamshell column cover off? The GMC dealer wants to charge an hour of labor to replace the part, which is about $100-$125. Is it worth it to just pay them, or can I replace the lever without pulling the whole steering wheel off? Just wondering if anyone has had to do anything similar...any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Have you checked to see if your low beam bulbs are not burnt out? It also could be a bad relay. Regards Dan

Re: Headlights Stopped Working!!!
Hello,
I work on Buicks allot and was wondering if you have the automatic system on your'92? Or do you manually have to turn on your headlights and off? If you have the auto system with no headlights I would suspect a headlight control module or relay. You can uusually troubleshoot these systems by finding a library that has shop manuals. If you want to work on this car it's usually worth investing in one. They take you through troubleshooting charts that make it simplier to find the problem and correct it. If you have a manual system it could be a bad headlight switch etc. The turn signal level or "multi-function switch" is easy to replace. The cover pops off and the lever pulls straight out and off. The connection is visible. In older models the wire ran down the steering column and you have to "fish" it through. Good Luck! p.s. Get a shop manual it will pay for itself. Try e-bay for better deals |
