When headlights are turned off, horn sounds?

I just bought a 2002 Eclipse GS. It's a great little car with one small exception: When I am in park & the engine is running and the headlights are turned off, the horn sounds a short note. Any ideas what may be causing this? My last resort is trying to re-program the horn activation/de-activation confirmation function of the remote entry/alarm system. (As far as I know, the car is as it came from the factory.)

Re: When headlights are turned off, horn sounds?

I just tried all three combinations of horn/no horn/lights alarm activation options listed in the manual and it had no effect.

the lights turn off automatically when you get out of the car and it is turned off correct? if that's so, i don't see why this would be a problem. people can see you easier even during the day because your lights are on.

if it bothers you that much, your wiring prolly got funky, and wiring is no fun to replace. a mechanic should be able to easily take care of it

I suppose it's possible for the lights to turn off automatically, but that wasn't the point of my post.

The problem is when I turn the headlights off, the horn is activated for approximately two seconds. I agree if the problem is wiring related, it will be a headache to solve.
