Talking 1993 Allard J2X - Completed

Yup, finally finished today. Hope you like the photographs below. Box stock build, with addition of some BBR and SMS carbon decals (I love SMS!). All that's left are some etched rivets on the rear wing and some machined wheel nuts which I'm currently waiting for. Let me know what you think!

There is a progress thread here with some more details of the real car and also my model.

Let me know what you think!

That looks fantastic! Nice work and such a unique car to add to the display case! Keep it up. one small critic, the wing looks to be a bit out of square with the fenders but minor stuff and probably easily fixed.

Re: 1993 Allard J2X - Completed

Hi,

GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well built !!!!!!!!!!!

I like it, it is different

Just 2 remarks:

Concerning the CF-decals in front of the windscreen: their texture appear a little bit too huge for this scale, and the finish on the nose under the No. 7 - decal seems to be a little bit rough.

Very nice. Always been a fan of the late Group-C stuff.

Awesome stuff. Mighty impressive piece of machinery and sharp build. Also impressive is the amount of magnification in the images, they must be four or five times the size of the real model! Brave move.

Looks great Lotus_man. Very well built

An interesting bit of auto history although (as a minority report ), I have to say that on looks, this car doesn't crank my engine.
Also I can't help but feel the maker somehow missed the ball on those CF/kelvar decals - mabe it's the photo but they just look too big

I agree for the kevlar pattern, anyway this black beast is awesome, man: fantastic build. I just love this kind of pushy subjects!

Yup, it's tiny which I think is why the metallic paint looks a little rough in some of the pictures! They are much bigger than the actual model... dunno if I'm brave or stupid

The kevlar looks much better in real life than in the pictures... I have toned it down with Tamiya smoke, which means when viewed from the 'normal' distance tones the weave right down. Those sections had quite a prominent weave on them, which is why I chose to use the kit decals rather than re-make them (as I did with the wings, under-tray etc.).

Oh, and I have starightened out the wing as well, didn't spot it till I saw the photos

Anyway, thanks all for the comments. After waiting 13 years, I enjoyed this build. I think I may be doing a few more Group C cars... next up a 1:43 '88 962C.
