a few questions for my 89 TC
ok, i have an 89 Lincoln TC... just bought it eight months ago.. or so. i'm no car expert so bear with the quesions, eh? i've been noticing some slippage on hills, if i'm just trying to take off on a hill, it's like the car is in neutral and it starts rolling back down the hill.. is the tranny going out? also, my decklid motor, the one that cranks the lid shut, it won't stop running.. i looked thru the fuse panel dealy, and pulled the fuse i thought was associated with it, it was a twenty amp fuse, marked "deck lid release" in the manual.. and the motor keeps running, does that mean there is a short somewhere between the fuse and the motor? if so, how do i find it? thanks in advance for any help.
by the way... i love my car. 89 Town Cars rule. |

Re: a few questions for my 89 TC
Hello
I could give you a few sugestions to check out. First I have to ask if you checked the trans fluid. Funny things can happen with low fluid levels. There is also a TV cable adjustment that might be causing some of the trouble. I had that problem with my 91 TC and it wouldn't upshift and seemed like it was slipping. Made the adjustment and it shifts great now. Got the adjustment info. form some one on this website. Go back a few threads and you will see my post asking about the adjustment. It was really easy and much cheeper than taking it to a trans shop. Worst case your trans clutches could be worn out and you might have to get it rebuilt. How many miles on the car? and what does the fluid look like? On the deck lid problem, there should be a switch that lets the motor know that the trunk is closed and to stop running. Check that to see if it's out of adjustment. Mike |
