1994 mirage high idle

sometimes i come to a stop and put the clutch in and the enngine stay revved ..sometimes it will do it sometimes not...

cables seem to be fine, and it has had a complete tune-up (minus manual tranny fluid)..

is this the map sensor or is it the ide air control valve going bad ?

also is it worth it to change to lower temp thermostat ?

was thinking of getting a 160 degree or maybe 140 if i can find it ..

obviously it will open sooner but does this have any advantage on engine life ? cooling it quicker ..

Re: 1994 mirage high idle

ok ...

i looked at vacuum lines and they seem to be in excellent shape...

maybe i can elaborate a bit more...

imagine starting your car on a cold day. you engine tends to rev a bitmore till it gets warm

well after driving mine after it warms, coming to a stop or sitting and idling it seems to stay a little higher than it should be..

not real bad but enough to make you notice it should be lower...

it does not do it all the time but it does it alot..
