Looking to buy an 02

Hi everybody I'm new hear and am looking for a little advice. I am looking at buying a 2002 x-type 3.0 with 59k for $16k. I was wondering what I should watch out for on this car. I have read very mixed reviews about the car especially the 02 and was wondering if I should avoid buying the 02. Also I have never owned a European car before but I;m guessing that repairs are definitely more expensive, have you found repairs to be considerably more expensive on your jags then say your run of the mill GM car? I also heard mention of free 10k interval servicing by the dealer, is this the case regardless of where the car is purchased, I'm looking to purchase mine from an independent lot and not a jaguar dealer.
