03 Cavalier-Is the auto trans shifting right?

When I do a light throttle start from standstill, the RPM's do not drop very much at all, when going from 1, to 2, and 2 to 3. With other cars, you see a distinct drop in the RPM's after the shift. Do other Cavaliers shift this way?

the trans is going to shift according to how the car is accelerating. if youre not accelerating very fast and not into the throttle its going to shift pretty early.

My problem / question is that the shift is very soft, with no really distinct drop in the tachometer RPM's. If the car didn't have a tach it wouldn't be so noticeable. Mine will drop from 2000 to maybe 1900 RPM. That is too little, I think.

is this no matter how hard youer on the gas or what? first is a rolling ratio so if you dont wind it out a bit and youre just takin off easy its a pretty low ratio.
