96 taurus od tranny 3.0 shift probs
the trans is slipping and wont shift ,when filter an fluid were changed old fluid was not discolored or burnt smelling,no particulate matter in pan,also when shifted into reverse the steering gets tight like the engine is not running and the radio goes into almost like a mute mode were nothing can be heard from speakers ,any other gear section the steering is good and radio works.any ideas?

Sounds like an electrical short. Could possibly be in the transmission itself. It's just hard to isolate these problems sometimes. I'd go to the dealer. A shop probably works on all types of cars and may be a waste of money if they can't anything where the dealer just works on Fords. I think you'd have a better chance with them. Just advise from experiences. Good luck!

probably the transmission range sensor.
