As usual Rich comes in with help, try disconnecting the egr for a couple of days see if the problem goes away.

It won't hurt the motor with the EGR disconnected? You mean just the wires right?

yea just unplug it. the egr is for NOx emissions. it can also help keep the combustion chamber cool and cut down on detonation when the engine needs extra help but i dont think thats an issue most of the time. and it will set a check engine light too so dont freak out when the light comes on
