In a nutshell I'd say:

Carbs = slightly less fuel economy, but cheaper and simpler once you upgrade stuff and make BIG horsepower. Also most carbs don't have great throttle response.

TPI = somewhat better fuel economy, bit more expensive, crazy torque, better throttle response, but the runners will be the weak link if you ever want a lot of power, they fall on their face real early.

LS1 - came after the LT1.

Found in 98-02 F bodies and 97-0? Vettes.

Basically it gets like 30mpg and runs low to mid 13s in bone stock F bodies
