I am considering a 2004 Passat W8. Anybody know how reliable they are or of any known problems? Thanx

Unlke most people, I change my oil....

really, most passat owners dont. they just let there engines sludge up then try to sue vw for bad engine design.... >sigh< :

i havent seen a w8 tensioner last more than 50k wow, guess your lucky

Thats because I DRIVE my car, not pussy about with it.. They can't be any less reliable than the 30V tensioners. Changed a few of those at work.
"What do you mean my engine won't be replaced under warranty ? So what I only changed my oil ONCE in 28,000 miles ?!?! A new engine and turbo are gonna cost me $8000 ?!?!?!"
