1991 2.5 4cyl with a miss

I have a 1991 S10 with the 2.5 with 108,000 miles. The problem I am having is that when the temperature outside is cold the engine will miss if I give it more than half throttle and the service engine soon light will come on for about 30 seconds then go away. When it's warm outside the engine runs great with no miss. I put plugs and wires on it about 4 months and and I just put a new distributor cap and rotor button on but that was no help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The first thing I would suggest is to find out what code you are getting.

an o2 sensor wouldnt cause something like that based on temp. it sounds like a connection problem somewhere. go to autozone and have them check the codes when the truck is acting up. you have to drive it and DONT shut it off when you get there after it has acted up. let the guy pull the code with the truck running, or at least, dont turn the key off.

Changed the oxygen sensor and it fixed it.
