7-way RV Plug

Has anyone ever replaced the factory trailer plug on a 2002 Suburban or Pick-up? The piece that I need is the actual female plug. Is this something that I can buy at AutoZone or is this a dealer-only item. If it is a dealer only item does anyone know the part number?

Re: 7-way RV Plug

Most part places have them. There may be several sizes or shapes.
You may have to match it up.

Like MT said most parts houses carry them. I know NAPA auto parts has them.

The hoppy part number is 40955. This will only work is your has the plug on the back of the truck side plug.

Re: 7-way RV Plug

I don't know if I made my first post very clear. I would like to replace the factory plug...the mounting bracket is welded to the receiver hitch from the factory so the plug has to have special "ears" that allow you to insert it into the mount and turn it and lock it into place. I have seen universal RV plugs...but since this one is a little different I thought I would ask if it is available at the parts store.

Re: 7-way RV Plug

A good way to find out is to take the truck/or the plug to the parts place and see what they have.
What are you pluging into the plug? If you can not match it just get a matched set of plugs male and female and use them.

Re: 7-way RV Plug

MT

Thanks for the reply...

I am plugging the factory RV plug in to the factory harness...so the plug and the harness are specific to GM (I assume)...

But you are right, I am just going to have to take it down to the parts store and see.
