1999 Passat V6 - Full Antenna Replacement

Greetings. I have a 1999 Passat V6 with Sunroof. (Wife's Car). Her antenna was recently destroyed, including the gasket which rests between the roof and the base of the antenna. I purchased a replacement, as well as a VW Service CD, but I cannot locate instructions to remove and replace the ENTIRE antenna unit.

Looking at the replacement, it looks as though the interior upholstery (ceiling) needs to be peeled back and then the antenna accessed from inside the vehicle. Is this correct?

I appreciate the help if someone can provide assistance. Regards.

yes, just pull down the back part of the headliner starting in the middle. There is a 24mm nut holding the antenne on. unplug it first then loosen the nut. You will need a 2nd person to help install the new antenne (just to hold it so you can start tightening the nut)
