horrible noise when i switch from park to drive on my 2000 stratus v6 when its cold??
when i switch from park to drive there is a horrible noise, kind of sounds like grinding but goes away after car is warm, anyone know why????

Well I know some transmissions / engines will shift differently or run at different RPMs in order to heat itself up. Maybe there is a flaw in specific gear its using?

Probably sounds more like a racheting, in that case, it is a normal sound, except that yours is louder than most. Someone mentioned in another thread that there is a sound dampening sheild that covers the solenoid pack. If that is missing or damaged the sound you hear will be much louder than it should be.

Dodge cars make this noise, when you come to a stop, i bet you hear your car making this noise as well. you hear it for about 3 sec or so, correct?

You have to also remember that things do not work as smoothly if it your car is cold. It will act different if your just jumping in you car and taking off on a cold. If the problem doesn't exist if the car warms up then I wouldn't worry about it
