Re: 1997 Fuel Relay Location
Are there any specific relays you are looking for? Look to the right side of the battery. There is a little box there that has relays in it. It is easy to find. Large wiring harness under it. About 4 inches ling and 2 inches wide.

Re: 1997 Fuel Relay Location
CONTROL MODULE
On your 1997 FORD TAURUS, the CONTROL MODULE is: UNDER HOOD, DRIVER SIDE, REAR SIDE OF SHOCK TOWER, MOUNTED ON FIREWALL Also go to www.fleet.ford.com and click on maintenance tab. Then click on owners manual, enter the information. Go to roadside emergencies and scroll until you find fuses. This gives you all the fuse locations for your vehicle. By the way, have you checked the fuel cut off switch for being tripped?

Re: 1997 Fuel Relay Location
Is the fuel pump relay inside of the control module or is the control module the fuel pump relay? Not really sure how the control module is connected to the fuel system.
Thanks for the help. |

Re: 1997 Fuel Relay Location
I believe the 1997 is similar to the 1998. For 1998, the fuel pump relay is located inside the engine compartment fuse/relay box. This box is located on the drivers side (US) of the radiator core support. It appears to be a discrete relay. The pinout for the relay can be viewed at http://www.members.aol.com/Rod241473...f/FP_relay.pdf
You may also find the diagrams at http://www.members.aol.com/Rod241473...Stuff/FP-1.pdf and http://www.members.aol.com/Rod241473...Stuff/FP-2.pdf handy as well. -Rod |

Anyhow, so I test the relays, seem to work fine... Probably look at the pin-out diagram for it with a multimeter. Think I will save that task for tomorrow. |

Re: 1997 Fuel Relay Location
The diagrams are from the service manual for a 1998 Ford Taurus with the 4V engine. They show the relay in a different location from where you found yours and where way2old said you would find it, so you may not want to trust the diagram 100%. That being said, I would expect the relay itself (and mating connector) to be basically the same.
With the relay unplugged, are you able to get to the connector with a volt meter or test light? -Rod |
