Re: 91 Rs Help

Don't feel like making a new thread, so does anybody know what sun roof status is on an RS? How big of one can you get? And i am talking about the motorized ones that that slide up and out a bit.

Also, what is your take on them?

Well im not so sure on the rear but he should get one because he probably has a horrible gearing on it and why not go posi with the new engine anyway?

And also to the thread starter: Are you talking about putting a mechanical sunroof on a Camaro? This is my take on it.. first it would be way custom, you'd probably be the first, im not so sure, it would cost ALOT and would really be more of a bitch than doing anything else.

Re: 91 Rs Help

Any idea where to get guages for my car? I mean the in-dash ones. I want my speedo to go higher then 110. What can I do about that?

Also, vertical doors on a 3rd Gen.. can it be done or are the doors to heavy?

Re: 91 Rs Help

Go to the junkyard for the guages. I had to replace mine becuase they were burnt out (car would be ideling at 1000rpm, but it's reading 3000) Very easy install too. 305's can be had for cheap, some people practically just give them away. Check out thirdgen.org classifieds, dirt cheap if someone sellling one.

Re: 91 Rs Help

Rally,, I hate to tell ya but I beleive you may be all wrong. Especially on the suspension, that I know for sure. And at one point I thought there would be a difference in the bellhousing for the tranny seeing is that your going from a 60* motor to a 90*, but was informed otherwise by some that have done the swap, I could be thinking of a 3.4 conversation but all in all s/b the same.

Mose, have you ever looked under the headliner of a 3rd gen? A sunroof would be one helluva feat to do, the support runner for the a-b pilars goes right through the center. So messing with that on a subframe that already indures alot of stress would not be of recommendatino. Even for t-tops the runner is beefed over a hard top.

On the guages, if your thinking creative enough to put a sunroof in, how about redirecting that energy towards making your own custom cluster? I've seen some that look really nice and trick with stainless steel, chrome and such. Gets me wanting to do it just thinking about it.

Re: 91 Rs Help

So about that 305, do you need a new tranny or what? Might as well look.

And I was just curious about that sunroof, IMO it'd look NICE. And as for the gauges, I want gauges that go higher, not the same gauges. I want some after market ones. I'd get a guage cluster, but I don't exactly like those to much, not on 3rd gens atleast. If you can show me some pictures of some that look nice, I may consider it.

Well im suggesting getting a suspension upgrade to handle the weight.

Also, Wright are you saying you can swap out a V6 and put in a v8 with the same tranny? If so, then I wanna meet your friends because John said that the bellhousing is diff..

Did you not read the part of 'you may be wrong' and 'i could be thinking of the 3.4'. I had the same arguement you have again because of the crank orientation. And I didn't say any of my friends have done the swap it was antoher debate on the boards, so since I haven't done it, I would expect those that have to know what they are talking about.

However, the suspension is the same as the V8.

Anyway Mose, 305's and 700r4's are a dime a dozen, I have both 305 I bought long block (carb to pan) running for $75 and a 700 I think was 50 or 75 as well jsut sitting there right now. Even 350s are not hard to come by for next to nothing. Do some scoping around you'll see what i mean, the truth is out there........
