Windstar stalls in wet weather
1999 Ford Windstar will start when the weather is wet, but will not continue to run normally. Sounds like it is running on about have the cylinders. Any suggestions?

First off, welcome to AutoForums! How long have you had your 99? How many miles on it? How long has it been acting up in wet weather? I take it you ment to say "half" instead of "have" cylinder. You said that it "will start when the weather is wet, but will not continue to run normally." What does it do when it starts when wet? Does it run well until it's warmed up? Do you have a Check Engine light on? Have you had it checked for stored codes? Regards Dan |

Re: Windstar stalls in wet weather
Dan is right - more diagnostic info is helpful.
However, as soon as I hear anything like "doesn't run well when it's raining", I immediately head toward ignition problems. The spark plug wires may be nearing the end of their useful life; old wires often first show symptoms during damp weather. I'd also make sure the coil pack is in good shape. How long has it been since the spark plugs were replaced?
