First i would like to thank you for reading my question. I own a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt 2.2 with 21,000. I have a problem that when my car is about to come to a complete stop the RPM's drop to 500 and the car stops suddenly and shakes a little. This only happens when I want stop the car. If I want to slow down the car my RPM's go down as normal. I have went to the dealer and they said there is no issue. I know there is an issue becuase I know a couple people who have this car and they said they have never experienced this problem. I have no idea what it could be. A couple people have told me that it could be that my idle is too low. I doubt this. When my car is warm the idle is about 700-800 RPM's. Have you ever experienced or heard about this issue. I dont want it to get to the point of my warrenty running out and me being up the creek. Thank you again for your time.

Re: RPM's & Stopping
Just about everyone with a Cobalt has this problem from time to time when coming to a stop. It's a PCM/ECU problem. Your car most likely doesnt have the newest ECU update, ask your dealer to check it and if possible update it to the latest and greatest program. If your usual stealership won't help, then find another. This should solve your problem.
