Flywheel compatibility

I am currently swapping transmissions and need to know if the flywheel from a 2.5L 4cyl will fit the 2.8L v6?

Yes and no. That is, it will bolt up, but... What year is the 2.8?

'87-older 2.8s are "externally balanced". What this means to you, is the flywheel (manual trans) or flexplate (auto trans) has weight "added" or removed, to bring the engine into balance. '88-newer 2.8s are "internally" balanced, so the 4 cylinder unit will be fine.

Replacements are readily available.
