E-85 Conversion

I will have a '94 Chevrolet Cavalier V-6 and I was wondering if anyone here knows if it's possible to convert the engine to E-85 fuel? If so, how much would it cost? I'm guessing new fuel injectors, filter and possibly a pump. Maybe a new computer?

Re: E-85 Conversion

I have heard that though cheaper, the effiency is lots lower. I did some research on an E85 conversion and I found that there isnt really an E85 conversion and IIRC no real way to convert it. Go to the E 85 website, you'll find more on it there.

I was wondering just because I thought I'd do something nice for the environment. Yes E-85 gets less mileage, because of it's lower BTU count. It's only cheaper because of the federal incentives, which help make up for the loss of mileage. I think I read something about Brazilian companies having conversion kits because of the high use of renewable fuels there.

Re: E-85 Conversion

it basically comes down to computer programming. ive heard that e85 is a bit corrosive to the fuel system but as far as things go, i know of a couple people that play with high content alcohol fuels in their s-10s with little problems other than lean codes.
