Cool Custom ratrod SSR gets a new hauler

Before anyone bites my head off about it being diecast, the SSR has been heavily modified...just like people do to plastic.

Maisto model (built about 5 years ago), chopped the roof off, painted in pseudo rat-rod color scheme (unclearcoated Tamiya metallic black) w/rims from the Black Force slammer model. The hauler is a new D Rods cabover found at Wal Mart, I did a bit of black wash on the grille and added a bit of foil trim around the body to cover some of the silver painted trim. More to follow. This is a fun setup...can't take modeling too seriously, y'know? Might get GTMike400 to machine me some matching rims for the cabover unless maybe someone already makes newstalgic Dub rims

Nice job. I saw a PT Cruiser with chrome bumpers and those moon hubcaps and it looked sweet too.

Re: Custom ratrod SSR gets a new hauler

Was that SSR in scale auto before?
Jada does make rims/wheels like that. Ask the dudes in the diecast section. Ahem* shouldn't this be in diecast anyway? hehe.. I also picked up one of those COE trucks. They are soo awsome up front. The slide back flatbed is alittle odd tho..And useless. So cool tho! I have the '37 GMC art decoish COE from Danbury Mint..That thing is Just BEAUTIFUL! Jada thankfully made their cab seperate from that horrible bed. SO hopefully it is almost in scale to revell's oldie ford. I think you can tell where I am going with this.

HOw could I not like this. Very cool. I've got a few die-casts for my son lately, and a few 'ideas' have churned here and there.....

LOL I'll just have to peruse that diecast aisle more carefully, eh?

I think the SSR made it into a magazine sometime, can't remember if Scale Auto or perhaps Model Cars Magazine at a contest.

Models like this are fun even when they aren't particularly realistic.

And yes this is in the diecast section and Mikey already dunned me for double-posting
