My First Pony

I need help. I own an 89 mustang lx hatchback with a 4 cyl . I only have $150 left after buying the car and i need quick bolt-on power. I wouldnt be asking for help but i only know ricers and i want american muscle. So if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: My First Pony

I would save that 150. You might be out of luck when it comes to muscle.

Re: My First Pony

congrats on the first mustang! dont let anyone in the import tell you any different, you did the right thing. lifted the front of your carr off the ground is waymore fun than takin a turn fast. i am goin with the crowd on this one, your gunna want to save the 150 up. if your willing to do all the work yourself you can buy a turbo for about 75$ at a junkyard. look for a ford probe, or t bird thunderbird. a sabb and volvo are harder to find but they will have turbos that will work too. thenyou will need a blow off valve, wastegate,{probly 300$ combine if ya pic your parts right and go used} couldbe more could be less dont quote me. a box of pre bent pipes is about 150-200$ shipped to you. you can steal an intercooler out of a junkyard pretty cheep. upgrade your fule and ignition system and then you will have a little bit of power goin on. that is alot more than i would spend on a 2.3l ford, but it is one of the two realistic ways to make power. the other being forged pistons and nitrous. i would save that moneyand buy a 302.
