Water pump tools

I need to replace the water pump on my '99 5.7L Tahoe. It appears that the fan is screwed on to the end of the pump shaft, requiring a special wrench and spanner to remove and reinstall the fan/clutch assy on the pump shaft. Can you suggest what combination of tools would work, or where I can borrow or rent the GM fan clutch wrench tool?

Thanks, 95. I checked those sources and they didn't seem to have the right tools for GM. They had Ford tools, but not GM. I ended up buying, for just $15, the Ford wrench set at Advance and it worked just fine. The wrench size was perfect, but the fork that holds the pulley was not quite right, although I was able to make it work well enough to get the torque on the fan clutch shaft that the book calls for. It's amazing how easy most of this stuff is to do if you have the right tools. My total cost was $103, including new by pass and radiator hose, and the tool. Dealer gave me a quick estimate of $400.

Water pump

I just replaced mine on a 99 tahoe. All you need is a big crescent wrench. With the fan shroud off, and the belt still attached un thread the big bolt counter clock wise. It is torqued on about 20 ftlbs or so. once it is unscrewed, loosen the four bolts on the fan pulley and then you can release the belt. The pump is held on with four bolts and there are no obstructions. A new pump is about $50.
with out any problems you are looking at about 4 hours from beginning to end. Good luck.
