sporatic lash

first off i wanna say i know that the kae has hydraulic lifters and therefore cannot be adjusted. But....for some reason it sounds like i have valve lash, lets just say it sounds like a honda. The noise seems to come and go, its fine one day but the next it will do it about four times. it is not a tick or a knock and i really wanna find out what is wrong. And just in case it helps, my car is a 1990 with about 80k on the motor. i am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to cars but this has me stumped. any help would be appreciated thank you

Re: sporatic lash

have you checked out the timing chain.

ka's are notorious for having a rattle, and they come and go like you are talking about.
