why no 2nd gen DOHC?

does anyone have any insight as to why they followed the 150hp DOHC engine with a SOHC "magnum" engine?

as as for it being a magnum, that means it has different shaped heads, but is there anything else that's different simply because it's a magnum?

and how is the thing four valves/cylinder with only one camshaft?

The magnum engine puts out 150HP just like the DOHC engine. DCX went with the magnum intake for better low end torque. Which the DOHC engine lacks greatly.

Re: why no 2nd gen DOHC?

ahh, that's nice to know they were looking for preformance, and not a cheaper way to make 150hp...

but what about it being 16v instead of 8v? how did they get 4 valves per cylinder out of one camshaft?

*cough*cough*SRT4*cough*

the 2.4 has a DOHC, so they kinda did.

the magnum rockers are funny shaped. imagine a pair of V shaped arms, the bottom is where it comes into contact with the cam, and the top is the valves. now this is simplified, cause they arnt exactly like a V, but same idea

I have yet to work on one, so I haven't seen what it looks like inside.

Re: why no 2nd gen DOHC?

ohhh, so the two exaust valves are controled by one cam?

and are the two intake valves really connected like that? that's kinda weird...
