whats the best oil leak stopper?

i just observed that my 96 windstar is leaking oil. confirmed it due to presence of oil in the garage. currently, ive been pouring new oil about 1L for 1 1/2-2 months. is it advisable for me to send my car for oil leak repair or just use an oil leak stopper substance for the meantime? im quite tight now in terms of money and i dont want costly repairs. whats the best oil leak stopper in the market right now?

Where is it coming from? might be a very easy fix for you, check the valve cover area for oil leaks down the sides of the block.

I would stay away from the oil leak stoppers. They do more harm than good.. As well as engine flush treatments.. You will be better off adding oil tell you have time to get it repaired..IF it start too leak to bad then saftey issues such as oil hitting the exhaust could start a fire. So if you can ,get it repaired...

Re: whats the best oil leak stopper?

Try looking to see if it is leaking from something easy and cheap....like oil filter (seating) or the drain plug.

If you know from what position that you see the drops on the floor.....you will be able to better track down the actual leak that is causing your problem. If not sure....place a clean cardboard under the engine to narrow it down.

Once you know the location that the oil is getting to the floor from......you will be able to focus on the actual leak.....and not a slight seapage.....or oil that has been blown back / around / etc by the air when you are driving down the road.
