99 low/losing coolant
My 99 Grand Cherokee is losing coolant but no water in the oil or in the drip pan. What could be causing this?

Re: 99 low/losing coolant
could be a bad Water Pump.
The water pump has a weep hole and when the bearing goes bad it causes coolant to seep past the bearing and leak out of the weep hole and most of the time it will burn off on the engine and you will not see a drop or puddle on the ground. The only other thing is a bad head gasket and the coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber and burning. I would look more toward the water pump. |

Re: 99 low/losing coolant
Usually if it is the water pump, I know on my '96, that if you stop the car and turn it off and coolant looks like it is leaking from the bottom middle of the motor, its the water pump.

I just had my radiator changed on my 99JGC. Same problem as you are having. There was no visiable water for me either. This radiator has plastic tanks of the side. One was cracked but it only leaked when the engine was hot and the radiator had pressure on it.. So when I was driving down the road water was leaking but as soon as I stopped the leak would stop. You might try warming your engine up in your driveway then reving the enigine to see if any water starts leaking. Good luck.
