instrument cluster

The instrument panel broke on my 94 town car, it started smouldering and then went dead. I bought a used one that had been guaranteed tested but that didn't work either, had that one replaced with another used one and again didn't work. Anyone got any ideas as to why this is and how I can solve the problem.

Instrument panel

Hello Phil

There should be an orange sticker on the cluster with a phone number to contact Ford engineering concerning problems with the cluster. At least that was the case on both of my town cars a 91 and a 93. It's a long shot but they might be able to help you with the problem. I could get that number for you if you like, the sticker fell off and I have it around some where. If it helps you I have a cluster from a 93 that I knows works because it is still in the car. I could sell it to you for $30.00 + shipping. But it might me possible that you have a problem with your electrical system that would smoke any cluster. It really would have been nice to know if those previous clusters you tried were any good in the first place. If you're local you could come by the shop and test out your cluster or clusters on my 93 parts car assuming 93 and 94 are the same part. I know the electrical system is just fine on that car. You are more than welcome, I am in Owingsville KY.

Mike
