I jut sucked water through the intake

I was driving in a hell of a storm when suddenly I "fell" into a water pool.
The engine stoped and after I tried to restart it sounds like: knock, knock, knock, knock, and there is a metal sound comming from the engine. Any ideas?? It is too late for my poor car??

You sucked water in and your motor hydrolocked. You got water in one or more pistons and when the compression stroke came around water doesn't compress so something broke. Probably a rod or 2. You should have pulled the spark plugs out and turned the motor over until all the water was out of the piston holes. If you want to find out drain the oil pull off the pan and see if any rods are broke or bent or maybe you took out a rod bearing or a wrist pin bearing or a piston.

Good luck I am chaising a noise in my motor I already check all this stuff and cannot find anything.

It's probably hydrlocked as mentioned by fngboy. Gonna have to drop the oil pan and check the rods.

On the brightside, now you can swap in a 2.4 motor and have more power

Can I use the same head from my car on the 2.4?

I need a quick fix I had that car prepared for an auto-x on saturday!!!!!!

The 2.0 and 2.4 heads are the exact same head. They are the same casting number. The difference is the cam gears and the cams. You can use a 2.0 exhuast cam on your 2.4 motor and gain some HP. You must use 2.4 cam gears. Do not change the 2.4 intake cam. I will repeat the 2.0 and 2.4 heads are the same heads and can be used on either motor!

Thank!!! I also have a cuestion. I have the SOHC with a mild ported head with new valves, springs retainers, seals, and Crane cam #10, and MP-PCM. Can I use the head by just changing to a 2.4 cam gear? Or I have to go for the DOHC all the way.

I am not positive, but I wanna say you would have to go DOHC all the way. I'll see if I can fish up some more info for ya.

I just took the oil pan and intake. The results were: intake had about half inch of whater in it, piston #2 have a bent rod, and piston #1 have a broken rod. The result of having the rod broken was a big-ass hole on the side of the engine block!!!! that explain all the oil the engine is covered with.
I'll post some pics when I have some time.

years ago I bought a Yugo. don't know if you remember those cars. But It had a broken rod and a hole in the block. I bought the car for $50. What the junk yard would give the guy for it. It actually ran on 3 made an unbelieveably noise.

AT anyrate I dropped the engine out the bottom with tranny and took it apart and welded the hole shut. I Plasti-guaged the crank on the broken rod journal it was perfect I bought a new rod, piston, bearings etc. Put it back together and the car ran great. It only had 42k miles on it. I drove it for 2 years put another 20k on it and sold the thing for $400.

There is no actual oil pressure inside the engine block. The oil is just running down there from the head.

nice info Thanks, but I need to have a 100% good engine. I'm planning to run auto cross in this thing. The sad part is I had it ready for saturday that was my first event. everything got fu@#ed after the car being running for only a weeck. I actually expended lots of money on that engine.....
