Michelin Tweels in Action
I'm sure most of you have heard about the Tweel. I just came across an interesting video that actually shows the new tires in action. Very strange!

HOLY F**K i can't believe that. Its neat that it acts kinda like a suspension though.

that's sweet, wonder when it will come available, it said it might replace conventional wheels in 10-15 year but when will we see them on racers.

Bleh I can't see it on race cars... you want the suspension itself to do the work, the tires should only grip. There is no way to help rectify the problem of weight transfer in that form(short of buying "stiffer" tweels... if they're even available).
Though could be nice on luxury cars.

Re: Michelin Tweels in Action
well, they could use the tweels as the suspension system, that could save on weight. it would just be a little difficult to tune lol, they'd have to order specialy made tweels. of course formula one teams could afford it.

Yeah but there'd be no way of controlling body roll, I imagine there would be horrible bump steer in some cases, no way to make ride comfort and handling both acceptable, and no way to tune suspension angles/geometry, etc etc.

I first saw this about 2 years ago. I’m just wondering when it’ll hit the market.

Well actually now that I think of it, I bet it would work great for drag cars because they could be specifically designed to "wrinkle" like wrinkle wall slicks do to provide loads of grip since you could tune it to be progressive, not to mention eliminate a ton of rotating mass.
I bet it would be fun to do a burnout til the treads all gone, I bet it would sound like when you put a baseball card in the spokes on your bike

Re: Michelin Tweels in Action
lol you do have 2 vaild point could be tuned for spefic racing application such as drag. But they would have to make a thicker tred for the burnout etc..
