My Girlfriend Wants a Thing.... questions

i need alittle help, i can find a type 181 {Thing} for her for like 4-5k

my question is, can the 1.6l be taken out for a newer 1.8. or if i can fond a rebuild kit. is there a site online that sell accesories and parts for it. (ex: new top, fender flares, headlights, taillights, windows, gauges, seats etc etc...)

i'm really not sure if a thing restoration project is worth it but it would make her pretty happy so anything you guys can help me with would be awesome. thanks - adam
