Re: 99 engine upgrades

Are you searching for an engine swap? Or parts for your engine?

Re: 99 engine upgrades

A swap. Hoping for something with some nicer horsepower than the usual 4 cylinder engine it came with.

Re: 99 engine upgrades

If you want an engine swap your S.O.L. In order to put a v6 in or any different engine you need to redo the motor mounts, wiring harness, trans, to much work stick with the 2.4L or buy a diff. car with bigger motor. no since is fixing if it works. No real upgrades for this either except for the air filter that you can remove the box and just put an open air filter on the end of the air hose where your box was connected, also a high pressure fuel rail would also help with better injectors (fuel rail is located on front of engine about 1 ft long and silver cylinder about 1 inch in diam roughly. Not a lot of good upgrades for the 2.4 grand am however great motor and will go 200,000+ if you do your regular maintnence. (looking for more power go with a grand prix 3800.

You could actually supercharge or even turbo (*they're out there*) your 4-cyl

Click Image for Info. Thats a supercharger.
Costly, but thats really anything major.

Re: 99 engine upgrades

those little 4cyl can get some Hp if you hav the cash. Check ebay for used stuff too, lik turbos and SC's.
Alot of times people buy them, expect way to many gains, and get mad then sell it on ebay. When all they had to do is modify stuff.
Bigger injectors, biger turbo/SC. then of course you'd hav to use performance rods/pistons heads/cams, better get a high flow oilpump w/cooler. thats some major $$$'s lol, hope I didnt discourage you Kenichi. But With what you'd spend on all that, you could hav bought a Vette w/V8, or an old Ferrari Spider.
What you cant buy, you make.
