Disable alarm

I have a 97 JGC and wanted to disable the alarm without going to the dealer. I could not find anything that worked for me on this forum. I kept at it until I figured it out on my own. Thought I would post, so I could possibly save someone else the frustration. I am not certain this is the correct way to do it but it worked for me.
Push the unlock button on the remote and push the button under the dash (backside of the plastic piece where the computer diagnostic port is located) simutaneously. The alarm will chirp twice and that's it. Hopefully it will work for you too.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you but we just had our first grandchild! Anyway, I believe I do have a factory alarm system and the button was very difficult to find. The button is just under the floor interior light bulb. If you reach behind the plastic, where the port is, then feel for the button. It is difficult to see because the button and everything around it is black. You will be able to find it easier by feeling for it than by sight.

I'm sorry but I don't know how to do it without a remote. You may try the key in the door and pushing the button simutaneously, maybe that would work. Of course, you would need somebody to help you though. Good luck!

Is disabling the alarm the same as cutting out the immopbiliser?? My jeep is sitting with the immobiliser NOT reacting to anything we try.
