1991 Lumina 3.1 - Starting Problems
Here's a little background:
Buddy starts my car and leaves the key in the "Start" position of the ignition, not just the "On" for at least 10 minutes. It smelt like burning wires as soon as I got in. (So ticked off, but that's beside the issue) The car continues to start though for a week and half. Over the past few days, in the morning, car has turned over weaker, almost like there wasn't enough juice in the battery to start it, but it would start. Now, went to start the car this afternoon, and turned the key....nothing. No clicking, no turning over, zilch. Tried a few more times and then it started. Drove it home (about 1/2 hour), parked then went back about 10 minutes later, and same thing...only this time, it will not start. Had another buddy bring a jump pack and tried that as well as using his car to jumpstart my car nothing. Alternator is brand new and battery is less than a week old, (had diagnostics run by SEARS & per them, battery was bad, so I replaced) May seem obvious but I just want to get opinions...any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Starter, if you hear a clicking noise then its the batt, if not clicking, its the starter.
