my 90 300zx wont start

my nissan 300zx 90 wont start me and my dad were messing with the battery a little and now it wont start you can heAR the engine trying to start so its not the starter it has to be something simple im missing ???
please help...

make sure the battery terminals are on tight. make sure that there is no corrosion on the battery. make sure that there is water in the battery. and most of all make sure that the battery has enough juice to crank the starter all the way. so just hook the battery up to the a charger for about 15 minutes then try to start the car and that should do the trick.
