How do I remove the chrome trim and front (and back for that matter) windshield from my 70 Nova? Is there a trick to getting everything off in one peice with no cracks? Looks like its been on since 1970
Looks like I'll have some rust to fix when I get it out. Looks like the dash is gone where it meets the windshield. That sucks...

Re: How to remove Windshield and Trim?

You need to pry the molding clips (which you can't see) away from the windshield channel with a tool like this to get the molding off. Take your time and you won't bend your chrome molding. Then another tool is used to cut through the adhesive which holds the glass in. After the glass is out you will need to fix the rusted channels. The adhesive used to reinstall the glass on your Nova comes as a ribbon on a roll. http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/dent9.html

On the '62-6'67 Chevy ll's you have to remove the windshield and trim together to keep from boogering up the trim pieces. Unless you cut the rubber gasket holding it all together. I am making an assumption here about the '70 but knowing GM's desire to use the same technology like this for years, you may have to also remove it all as a unit. IMHO!
