no instrument lights???? wtf!

hey today i installed an aftermarket radio in a freinds 96 or 97 civic im not sure what year but after i installed it i noticed that the dash lights no longer light up and by that i mean the gauges all the other engine lights brighten right up when i crank the car but but the gauges wont light up and yes they are working. i thought it might be the dimmer light that had been wired incorrectly (the orange wire) but then i realized it wasnt wired to anything and even after completely REMOVING all that i had done and leaving an empty whole where the radio was just as i had found it the dash STILL didnt light up i have checked the fuses. i assume i pulled somthing loose? does anyone have ANY advice please help i feel terrible about messing up a freinds car any advice would be greatly appeciated TY.

You checked all the fuses? Or just the dimmer fuse? Try checking all the fuses. Something might have shorted. Check out the dome light fuse also, that coulda done it

check all the plugs on the back of the radio housing like where the fan adjustment switch is , theres one on the top that could be missed
