ABS question

Tonight the ABS light came on in my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. The same thing happened in my Durango last year, and I called the dealership and they told me over the phone that there is a rear differential sensor that's known for going out. I replaced it, and everything has been fine since. Is there a common problem like this on the Caravans, or could it be anything? (I know there is no rear differential on the Caravan) I checked the fluid level, and it's between 1/2 and 3/4 full. There doesn't seem to be any other issues, and the braking system seems to be working fine (other than no ABS I assume) Any insight would be great. BTW - is this typically an expensive problem?

Re: ABS question

take it to a mechanic, and have them pull the trouble code from the ABS computer to find out what's going on

Re: ABS question

^ i agree^ Most of the time, the trouble code will tell which sensor is acting up..

Re: Re: ABS question

You guys probably won't hear of this happening again. My wife pulled the carpet out of her van a while back as part of her "new car campaign" (It HAD gotten pretty dirty from the kids). With the carpet removed, some wires were exposed. Last night I took her van to pick up an oversized item from Sams. When we loaded it in, we knocked a quick-connect loose, and that's what caused the ABS light to come on. I reconnected it this morning, and the light went out. BTW, if you're wondering, I am buying her a new van.... It's a long story.....

Re: ABS question

('95 Voy 3.0L - 99K miles) My wife tried to get a new van out of me after a stall at a stop sign in 100 degree heat. It started right up after two minutes. I cleaned the throttle, IAC, and performed a tune up. It hasn't stalled in two years. Sorry honey!
