I have a 77 280z and last night i was driving and was at about 4k in 2nd and then shifted to 3ed and the thch just stoped it stayed at 4k untill i got home and shut it off and then i taped on it to get to drop to about 1k. Is it dead? has this hapend to anyone befor?

Probably just the needle starting to stick. Happens with my temp gauge in the 240SX. If you can, squirt a bit of WD40 on the needle and shaft, worked pretty good for me.
