Replace the crank position sensor and the problem should go away. Location depends on engine size.

Sounds like the classic crank sensor symptoms, but you should try and get a scanner on it when this occurs and check for cranking rpms, if none the cks will probably fix it. Do a search on this site for a sensor check with a dvom, there are a couple of good posts on this.

I'm having a similar (if not identical) problem with my 1992 98 Regency. It started as a simple power loss on upward grades and right turns, and progressed to problems starting if the nose is pointing downhill. Now, it seems like I can drive without trouble on the top half of a tank of gas, but on the bottom half get stalls and sputtering (acting just like a vapor lock, but it's fuel injected). When you let it sit for about five minutes, it starts right back up as if nothing happened. I've been wondering if there might not be a problem with the fuel filter, because it happens more as the gas level nears the bottom...

If it's the crank position sensor, I have questions:

Is this something a relative neophyte could replace?
If not, would anyone know about how many labor hours replacement should take?
Is the CPS itself an expensive part?
