86 tire and lock questions

Alright, I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up a nice 1986 firebird for sale near me, and I'm new to this stuff, Whats my best bet for tires? The call will need some new ones soon, I'm wondering what I should look for?
It's a 305, 3speed automatic I'm just wondering how I can go about looking for tires? What people put on theres, etc,
Also, the drivers side door needs a new lock, because it doesnt lock, what do you guys find best for buying older parts? I have a buddy that says I should look into finding one off a old firebird, or in fact just an old pontiac of the same year, or around there,
Any help is greatly appreciated,
and yes im new to all this, thanks.

Re: 86 tire and lock questions

As far as the tires go, go to tirerack.com and search for tires that will fit your driving style. As for the lock, it may be difficult to find a door that is in good shape. You should be able to find a new lock at a parts store or from the dealer that will fit properly and shouldn't cost a whole lot.
