03 trailblazer problems?

just purchased a 03 trailblazer ext lt. its loaded with memory leather heated seats, dvd, rear air, dual climate controle. (you get the picture). also has 4.2 engine. there is 1000 miles and 4 months left on factory warranty. does anybody know of any problems areas i should look at closely or problems that will be occuring soon that i may be able to address while under warranty? ive read some of the post about having the computers flashed. is this done at dealers cost, or is it a cost to me? thanks in advance.

Get the EVAP codes reflashed. Leave the cap off a couple of times when you drive (or loose) and then take it in and get the codes updated. Just had mine done.

Your warranty only covers factory defects.
Warranty will not cover Module updates per customer request, nor will the dealer do a courtesy inspection of warranty items for you.

Thanks for the info so far. Had a couple problems pop up in the last couple day. First I found the drivers door wont always unlock with the electric locks or the manual lever inside, have to use the key. you can hear the actuator working though. Had everything electrically go dead. went to start it and it wouldnt start. headlights and interior lights worked, guages wouldnt come up. locks and windows wouldnt work, radio wouldnt work. power mirror on drivers side worked but not passenger side. tried cycling key, turning lights on and off but no help. ended up removing ground cable and reconnecting. started good then. Have there been problems with this. If i take to gm to have checked they wont find anything if its working when it gets there. also the plastic on top of rear hatch hits roof when opening. like it so far.
Anybody have any suggestions on good suppliers of extended warranties. Dont need 100000miles but 20 or 30000more would be nice. thanks again.

Check your battery terminals. And your battery for that matter. I would be willing to bet some money that you have corroded battery terminals. Its really the only thing that can affect all the electrical at once.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 03 trailblazer problems?

Be very anal about checking your Left brake light. This was a recall item, at least on the '02's and I have already had the entire module change a few times under the recall. Also, if your issue is related to safety, you can get the dealership to do a courtesy check. There was an issue a while back where some 02's had the fuel line pop off and come pretty close to spraying the exhaust manifold with gas. My grandfather had this happen and having 2 little kids I pushed the dealership to check mine, since there is no way I would get them out of their seats in time if I had a fire like that. The dealership at first refused but after a very short discussion with the GM 1-800 service line, and from what I heard an extremely unpleasant chat between the GM dealer rep and the service manager they got my vehicle up and checked that issue and another. Funny how that service manager no longer works there. Also, if you live in the north I believe there may have been some type of issue with the rotors rusting into oblivion.

The recall, i believe, was for the rear doors. In northern states (i think gm called them corrosive areas) the latch on the rear doors of tb exts can become rusted from the salt and other junk sprayed onto the door from the road. Then, the door may not shut properly and can open while driving. If you live in an area where it snows, get the recall checked.
