I was under the truck the other day and it occured to me I could modify the resonater to put in a cutout. The resonater on a flowmaster exhaust has room for another 3" pipe to come out of it. I figure I could cut a 3" hole, weld a 3" cutout pipe to the opening the add an electric cut out. That way when I'm crusing the highway I can bypass most of the exhaust and intown scare small children and old folks with the flip of a switch.
Anybody ever try this? Will the lack of backpressure cause the engine to suck a valve? Will it give me more power? Better milage? Or is it just a waste of money which will only produce more noise and get me noticed by the local cops?

Nobody has tried this or even looked into it? I find that hard to believe.
