handling

ok i hate to sound like a 16 year old kid but here it goes
i have a good friend that has an itr and we are going to start road racing school in march so we can start road racing anyway i now have a 1997 talon and will be out of college in a few weeks and the first thing im doing is buying a car so what i need to know is how is the handling in the 00-04 gti's

mk4 chassis cars handle like a total brick. i can go on and on about what vw did wrong with the car. too heavy, underpowered, understeer, inside rear wheel lifts off when taking corners, center of gravity is too high, control arms are nominal (so if you lower the car to lower the c.g., the control arms are off parallel), center of roll is also too high.

if you really want a vw for a handling car, wait for the new mk5s or get an old mk1 or mk2.


as for normal street driving, handling is great. but take it to the track, you'll hit the limits quick
