Angry 93 Escort wont start

Hi there.
Last night I was not able to start the car, 93 Escort LX. Even if I turned over the key, it looked like there was no power delivered. No sound, no light, Power OFF. Only headlights were fine. I doubted the battery, and tried to boost the car, but nothing happened.
These days it was not easy to start the car, but at least the power was ON, and there was a cranky sound. I changed a starter last month. Please give me a help.

I'm thinking a bad battery here. If the battery is really shot or extremely dead then you can not always jump them easily. Have you cleaned the battery terminals and the inside of the battery clamps? Does the battery have adequate water (distilled water is best)? Next time you try jump starting it leave the jumper cables hooked up for a half hour before you try to start it. Or put it on a charger for the night. Let AutoZone check it out for you if you have one. Dirty battery connections are a very common problem. They could even have been what was making your starter act bad. So, clean those connections, add water and head to AutoZone.

Agree with AZtumbleweed...Check battery thoroughly. Also, the cables can become so corroded that they won't move enough current. I've had to cut off 3" at the + connector and re-attach it with clean, shiny wire.

The safest way to jumpstart is:

1. Good car running
2. + lead on good battery
3. + lead on bad battery
4. - lead on good battery
5. - lead on unpainted frame part of bad battery car - should see sparks if you have a good connection

The last part ensures you don't ignite Hydrogen Sulfide gas that may be above the battery.

I cut of a couple inches of my positive cable too. Used a little propane torch to solder a connection on it and then put it back on the battery clamp. Preventive Maintenance
