Question problems with starting...

... i have an 89 integra and it won't start without a jump. i have tested the alternator and it is cranking out 14v. i have just replaced the battery also and there was no corrosion on the cables upon inspection and replacement. it seems like it is not getting enough power to start even though the battery has 12v. any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.

So even after you put in a new battery it would not start? but it still will start with a jump? I would first check the battery connectors to make sure they are tight and secure. If they are fine and tight on the battery and do not move when you try to turn on the post, next I would check the ignition switch set-up. Perhaps just not getting enough power to the starter to get it to start cranking. I had a volkswagen rabbit that I had a similar problem with, especially when it was hot, and I put in a dodge starter relay inline with the line that went from the ignition switch to the starter. The dodge relay needed less power to kick over the power and then it would pull the power directly from the battery to the switch on the starter so there was plenty of juice to kick it over and get it cranking.

Hope that helps.

thanks for your reply, it turned out to be a faulty capacitor in my car audio system.
